This Cello Boogie Woogie is inspired by Artur Smith's Guitar Boogie and borrows from his ideas and from the piano tradition of the Boogie Woogie style. It is in the key of C which sits beautifully as a natural home of Boogie for the cello, just as the key of E is the natural home for guitar blues.
The piece has eleven sections of the 12 bar blues pattern and if any section is too difficult, you can leave it out and still play the piece, adding sections as you master them. The turnaround bars, rhythmic patterns and 'licks' over each chord can also be used in improvisations if you are playing a 12 bar blues with other musicians. Learn some of them by memory to have at hand, and after playing this boogie for a time you may find you want to make your own patterns to add to the piece.
This is the second of a series of cello blues and boogie pieces.
The solo cello sheet music will be emailed immediately to you via a link to a PDF file you can download, print and save.
