This lively reel is always a hit in sessions and concerts. It includes variations in the traditional Irish style, giving a full and fast flashy piece to play on its own or in a set with other reels. College Groves, also known by many other names; The New Demesne, College Grove, The Millstone. The oldest source for this tune is in O’Neills Music of Ireland in 1903. There are a few suggested ornamentations, so it sounds good immediately. Listen to other versions and add your own ornamentations. In sessions with fiddle players it is usually played as written here, in the key of D.
