This well-known American folk song is plaintive and uplifting. It is enjoyable to play and has a variety of techniques to work on, including left hand pizzicato and slides. The first half is played down the octave in C minor. It is simple with a few double stops, and can be repeated in performance if the more challenging second half needs time to practice. In the second half the melody is repeated up an octave, with more double stops, repeated left hand pizzicato and a couple of faster flourishes.
